GARDEN

Our vegetable Garden serves our children’s center in two ways: empowering some of our youth by equipping them with basics agricultural skills and helping to improve the nutrition of our kids with fresh, organic and affordable vegetables. It has been a great asset to the center to have a local vegetable garden in which we are able to guarantee the quality of the vegetables eaten by the children.

HISTORY

In 2009 the weeds, gravel, rooks and dead space at the back of our property gave room to a beautiful, bountiful and fruitful vegetable garden that since then has been a great source of deliciously succulent “fresh from the farm” veggies. We started the vegetable garden as an experiment with a few rows of drip lines irrigation system that didn’t take very long to prove to be a great resource to invest in to improve the quality and nutrition of the kids of our center.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • Our moringa plantation is one of the highlights of our garden. As a great source of vitamins and nutrients, Moringa, also called “The Miracle Tree” has been helping to improve the health of our children by allowing them to have direct access to a high nutritional food right from our backyard.
